On the 10th of April 2015, Ghanaman Community Reinvestment Grant Trust Fund (CRG) signed an agreement with Hope Restoration Network to support our Village Literacy Campaign project through the instituting of Anakum Learning Hub. The Hub will contain a Library, ICT lab and Multipurpose Auditorium for reading, exhibitions, training, conferencing, workshops and seminars among others.
Speaking at the program ceremony in Accra Trade Fare, Hope Restoration Network (HRN) President Mr. Dogbey Setor Bright remains grateful to the Management of Ghanaman Trust Fund for their support to provide a safe and enabling environment for vulnerable children in Ankum village.
HRN sees an opportunity to change the way literacy is viewed and treated, moving it from a charity model to one where it is a key strategy and investment that can help solve fundamental societal and economic issues that include homelessness, poverty, and safety in the workplace and business productivity. HRN President promises to “take literacy to the next level” in villages by promoting it as a means to an end rather than an end in itself.
“Our Future Literacy program will continue to build and sustain the habit of reading and create a child-friendly, literate school environment through the donation of books and building of schools and libraries. However, with the addition of supporting the teaching of literacy, we aim to expand our activities to include building the reading skills of children. By integrating all these activities together, we will be able to achieve our goal of more children becoming independent readers” Mr. Dogbey Setor Bright concluded.
